Wake Up Right With Devo at Dawn

Ever think that you need the motivation to start your day with prayer? Or start off the day with meditation and relaxation before your 8:00 a.m.? Devo at Dawn held an event last week to do just that.

Athis event, held at 7:15 a.m., students and faculty members started off with a prayer and moved straight into some very moving Bible verses. One of them included: “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-9.

Students then talked about how the verses that were read speak to people today. This way participants could take the scripture and apply it to their daily lives. There were also activities which involved showing how to focus on God and not the distractions or other things in the world today. Lastly, as a reflection, the participants wrote down a prayer that they thought was appropriate to their life right now. The whole gathering only took about a half hour and was a great way to start the day off right with some quiet prayer/meditation time.

Devo at Dawn is a wonderful way to start the day and get the right mindset for class or studying. If you are looking for a way to relax your mind and heart before the day, consider attending a Devo at Dawn event next month. Watch the Campus Ministry website for dates and times for these events.
