As finals week fast approaches, students find themselves drowning in projects, exams, and papers. Sound familiar? A common stress reliever is often a good laugh. Campus Activities Board can help, with comedian Jeff Scheen coming to campus Tuesday, Dec 13.

Jeff Scheen is a comedian from Brooklyn, New York, though he grew up in the Detroit area and spent a few years in Chicago. Always a goofy guy, his friends suggested he try stand up comedy about eight years ago.

“Oh I bombed,” said Scheen of his first show via Facebook. “But I got one laugh and it felt great, so I kept going to try and get more.”

His persistence was well worth it, according to the biography on his website, as he has been featured on Laughs, FOX TV’s series promoting new comedians. In addition, he was a finalist in the 2016 Laughing Skull Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, among other comedy festivals across the nation.

Sheen said the show he will be performing for St. Scholastica students will have a lot to do with childhood.

Why childhood? One may ask. “I just think that it’s really interesting,” he explained. “Like we were all super weird but didn’t know it, like a bunch of aliens.”

Sheen’s goofiness and sense of humor will be warmly welcomed with end of semester stress mounting. Scheen has been to Duluth before, and is looking forward to returning.

The show will be in Somers Main Lounge at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13 and is sure to be a knee-slapping good time.
